Flower Care & Handling

Alstroemeria

  1. Cut stems 1” on an angle and remove any foliage below the water level.
  2. Place in a clean container with room temperature water.
  3. For optimum vase life, ensure that the water is treated with specially formulated flower food (Chrysal RVB).
  4. Display in a cool location away from heat sources, air conditioners, direct sunlight, and fruit.
  5. Repeat steps 1-2 every 4-5 days. Alstroemeria are thirsty flowers!

Anthurium

  1. Use clean water for post-harvest without preservatives or floral foods.
  2. Must not be exposed to temperatures below 59˚F or blooms will blacken.
  3. Extreme care while unpacking is important to avoid creasing or bruising.
  4. High humidity or regular misting is important for optimal storage.
  5. Blooms should be kept away from direct sunlight and heat sources. They will last longer at cooler room temperature but will suffer from cool drafts.

Asiatic/Oriental Lilies

  1. Cut stems on an angle and remove any foliage below the water level.
  2. Place in a clean container with cool water.
  3. For optimum vase life, ensure that the water is treated with specially formulated floral preservative.
  4. Display in a cool location away from heat sources, air conditioners, direct sunlight, and fruit.
  5. As the buds open, you may wish to remove the pollen as it may stain.
  6. Repeat steps 1-2 every 2-3 days.

Celosia

  1. Cut stems 2.5 cm (1 in) on an angle and remove any foliage below the water level.
  2. Place in clean container with room temperature water.
  3. For optimum vase life, ensure that the water remains clean by treating with a slow release chlorine pill. To maintain color, use specially formulated flower food in addition to the chlorine pill.
  4. Display in a cool location away from heat sources, air conditioners, direct sunlight, and fruit.
  5. Repeat steps 1-2 every 2 days.

Mini Gerbera

  1. Cut 1” off the gerbera stems.

  3. Ensure that the water is treated with gerbera preservative (chlorine pill). The key to long gerbera life is keeping them bacteria free.

Roses

  1. When handling roses do not let water drip on the heads.
  2. Cut stems (at least 1") on an angle and remove any foliage below the water level.
  3. Place in a clean container with room temperature water.
  4. For optimum vase life, ensure that the water is treated with specially formulated floral preservative.
  5. Display in a cool location away from heat sources, air conditioners, direct sunlight, and fruit.
  6. Add new water daily and repeat steps 1-3 every 2-3 days

VIP Lisianthus

  1. Cut stems on an angle and remove any foliage below the water level.
  2. Place in a clean container with room temperature water.
  3. Slowly warm flowers to room temperature.
  4. For optimum vase life, ensure that the water is treated with specially formulated flower food (Florissant 830).
  5. Display in a cool location away from heat sources, air conditioners, direct sunlight, and fruit.
  6. Repeat steps 1-2 every 3 days.

Snapdragons

  1. Cut stems on an angle and remove any foliage below the water level.
  2. Place in clean container with room temperature water.
  3. Remember that snapdragons are geotropic (affected by the force of gravity) when arranging!
  4. For optimum vase life, ensure that the water is treated with specially formulated flower food (Chrysal RVB).
  5. Display in a cool location away from heat sources, air conditioners, direct sunlight, and fruit.
  6. Repeat steps 1-2 every 3 days.

Stephanaotis

  1. Lightly mist the boxes, close and refrigerate.
  2. Store at no lower than 6°C (42°F) for at least two hours before use.
  3. Store up to one week in airtight bags or boxes with high humidity.
